18-Note Standard and Custom Models Compared

18 NOTE MODEL COMPARISON

18-note standard models and custom models compared

The main differences between standard and custom models are how the movement is made, the available tunes, price and lead time . Both are 18-note music boxes, but the model depends on your chosen tune.

The model category does not refer to the case.
The movement is the mechanical part that produces the music. The same case can contain different movements depending on the tune.

Production, tune, price & lead-time differences

Popular tunes with shorter lead times

Standard model

Uses a movement made in advance. Choose mainly from popular tunes held in stock, with an accessible price and a shorter lead time.

Made to order from a wider tune selection

Custom model

Choose from our wider supported repertoire. The movement is made after your order, so this model takes longer than a standard model.

Questions about model differences

Can I choose either a standard or custom model for the same tune?

The movement depends on the tune, so the same tune cannot be freely switched between standard and custom models.

If you are unsure which model your tune uses, include the tune title or product URL when you contact us .

Does “custom model” mean you create a new arrangement of my requested tune?

A custom model is made after ordering using a tune from our supported repertoire. It is different from commissioning a new arrangement.

If you need a new arrangement, please contact us separately. For details, see our custom arrangement and production guide .

What if I cannot find my tune in either list?

We may be able to offer tunes not listed on the website. Include the tune title and artist or composer when contacting us through Contact Form .

If you have a preferred case or delivery date, please let us know that as well.
